    The other hedgehog

Developer: Marcus EckertRelease Date: 22 January 2013 Review Platform: iOS

There’s a group out there that has a bit of a grudge against hedgehogs. Unlike most normal human beings, this group will not be impressed if you present them with one of the spiky critters in real life (they’re actually quite cute, just don’t sit on one), and they certainly won’t be playing any ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ titles anytime soon. This group (they shall remain nameless), has just ...

An alien walks into a bar…

Developer: Upper Class Walrus Release Date: 14 January 2013 Review Platform: iOS

Onto my second review for this week. We’ve already had a game which centers around balls, and now we’ve got one with the word ‘Machete’ in the title. Put those two elements together and you run the risk of ending up with something very painful indeed. Ouch. ‘Take My Machete’ is an action beat-em-up from one man studio Upper Class Walrus (both great names there). I’d imagine if a walrus was

Sid Meier's Civilization 5 is the closest thing to Video Game Netflix I've ever encountered: It’s quick and simple to get into, you've got countless different genre’s to enjoy, and its as addictive as crack cocaine mixed with heroin. I managed to pick up Civ 5, originally released in 2010, over the Steam Holiday Sale, and it seems more than a few other people did as well. Reviews and Let's Plays have been flying about. As such, a retreview seems in order!

First and foremost, I have to say that purchasing the expansion, Gods and ...

January 11, 2013 marked the second anniversary of the Sony’s DC Universe Online (DCUO), which at launch in 2011 was a subscription based MMO, but which has been free-to-play for a year now. Thankfully, as a comic book fan, it seems this superhero MMO is here to stay, at least a little while longer.

In celebration of DC Universe Online’ second year, we will be looking back at the third MMO to try the superhero route with a classic review of the launch game.

I was initially excited for a MMO based on the DC universe. While ...

    Let sleeping cats lie

    Developer:
Chillingo Release Date: 10 January 2013 Review Platform: iOS

A pop-quiz style question: what do cats dream about at night?

If you answered ‘Fish’, ‘Yarn’, or the top answer ‘Nuclear Fission’ (it’s true), then you’re either very knowledgeable about cats, or you are a cat. If the latter is true, stop reading immediately. This is unprecedented. Have you realised you’re a cat who can read? Email me, we’ll both make money. I have contacts in the cat entertainment

For the uninitiated, the original Stranger’s Wrath launched on Xbox in June of 2005. Developed by Oddworld Inhabitants (famous for the classic of many a childhood, Abe’s Oddysee) the game received rave reviews, with many praising its innovative “live ammunition” system, beautiful artwork and great sense of humour. It marked the last original title in the Oddworld series to date, and left many clamouring for more tales of the Odd universe.

While fans might have to wait a while for a brand new installment in the series, in the meantime

    A wild story arc

Developer: Chillingo Release Date:3 January 2013 Review Platform: iOS

Ever tried to get into a party you weren’t invited to? I have. I know it comes as a shock, but I wasn’t always a rock star games reviewer, there was actually a time when I wasn’t very popular. Now it’s one thing discovering that you haven’t been told about the weekend get-together for all the cool kids at school, but imagine being turned away from the biggest party on earth, heading home in a sulk, and a tidal wave ...
