Part 1 of this article will deal with installing the mods while Part 2 will list my personal favorites. Part 3 will include the mods I used to make my hardcore experience harder and Part 4 will deal with mods for the Radio.
Part 1 How To Install ModsInstalling mods for New Vegas is actually incredibly simple thanks to a set of tools created by various modders. First you will need the Fallout Mod Manager which can be found here. Once it has downloaded simply run the installer. Now go inside the newly created GeMM folder and run fomm.exe . Select New Vegas as the game you wish to run and you should be shown the Setup Screen. The default locations are fine but feel free to change them. Now open FOMM and you should see a screen similar to mine below but with only FalloutNV.esm displayed.
Now to practice installing download the plausible starting outfit mod and click on the package manager button in fomm. Then press add FOmod and add the mod file you just downloaded. It should then appear in the package manager with an empty box to its left. Highlight it and click activate which installs the mod. Close package manager and look at the main fomm screen. The plausible starting outfit should now have appeared. Now launch New Vegas with the button in fomm and start a new game. If the good doctor still gives you the vault outfit feel free to ask for help in the comments section and I will do my best to reply.
Next up is the New Vegas Script Extender. This is the only mod which is installed without fomm. Simply download the latest client and follow the instructions in the readme. Fomm automatically detects NVSE so simply start New Vegas through fomm and everything should be fine. This allows modders to do various things but we wont even see it.
Finally we will install the Mod Configuration Menu which allows some mods to be controlled from the pause menu in game. Simply download it and install it with fomm.
