Bizarre PS2 Kissing Adventure Chulip Heading to PSN
A recent ESRB listing has revealed that the oddball PS2 game Chulip is heading for a re-release on the Playstation Network. Chulip (for the surely very, very few that haven't played it) sees you play as a young boy with his heart set on the girl next door. After his love letter to her goes missing, it is up to you to guide him around the village, recovering pieces of the letter and impressing the villagers by...kissing them.
No date has been given as to when the game is slated for release, though it seems a strange one to re-release; the original 2007 game received mediocre reviews at best, holding a 57% critic aggregate on Metacritic
. It was criticised for its unclear progression and plot-line and often unforgiving sudden deaths, though some noted the games quirky charm and distinctly Japanese humour. If the re-release price is low enough I can imagine people checking it out just for the sheer strangeness, though otherwise I can't see it being very successful. The game never saw European release, so if nothing else it will give those across the pond a chance to experience this slice of obscure Japanese gaming.
Stay tuned for a release date.
